The italian influence from the first immigrants is still very present in Caxias do
Sul. The second biggest city of Rio Grande do Sul, Caxias preserves the cultural legacy and the costumes from the colonizers, becoming one
interesting destiny for those who visist(s) the Serra Gaúcha (name given to the region).
Caxias do Sul makes part, with other 200 cities, of the Grape and Wine area. The
winegrowing farms are the best attraction to people who appreciate a good wine and has some interest in history. There, the tourists visits the
vineyards and can follow the whole process of the wine production.
The celebration to the fruit and to the drink is so huge that there is the
traditional "National Feast of Grape and Wine of Caxias do Sul" every two years. This party attracts about 20 thousand people that comes to
watch the musical performances and to taste some of the delicious dishes.
Other attractions like museums, churches, beautifull landscapes and even a castle
are interesting as well and must be visited too.
Also the cuisine, with chickens, barbecue, "polenta", macaroni, and all
traditional italian food are great and mustn’t be left out. |
