There are some who say that in Natal it never gets cold. This affirmation sounds
exaggerated, but it’s really close to reality. After all, the city has an annual average temperature of 28ºC, controlled by a constant breeze
that blows from the sea making the climate always warm, but pleasant.
Dunes of thin and whitish sand in contrast with the blue of the sea and the sky
are the most common landscape in the city’s surroundings, without mentioning the fresh water natural pools, spurting out of the sand oasis in
the middle of the sand, with coconut trees small hut for tourists.
The liveliest beach of Natal is Ponta Negra Beach, meeting point of young people
and families, where there are also a great number of hotels, famous restaurants and bars. “Praia do Forte” has a great inlet and is one of the
most frequented beaches in Natal.
Natal also has an unusual side. It’s common to see dromedaries walking on the
dunes carrying tourists, who rent the animals to take a tour through the region. The city is also known for having a great number of “cajueiros”
(cashew trees), including the biggest one of the world according to the Guinness Book, occupying an area of more than 8,5km2.
Despite keeping the characteristics of a calm beach city, Natal is a modern
capital that receives about one million tourists per year. It has good infrastructure, with an international airport and also three to five star
hotels.
