Araxá - Museum - Dona Beja Museum

Dona Beja Museum

Dona Beja Museum

The building where Dona Beja Museum is located today was built in colonial style in the first half of the 19th century. The construction also belonged to Assis Chateaubriand, who bought the real property in 1965 exactly to, some time later, transform it into a museum.

Inside the house there are furniture of the colonial and the Empire, besides historic documents and some special rooms, referent to the historic development of Araxá. One of the rooms was baptized as "Lugar de Memória", keeping an exhibit about the local life, illustrating the daily routine of the small town through the residents themselves.

In the second floor, there is "Quarto da Beja", which ascends the aspects of a room of that time from donated pieces or acquired by the museum administration.
