Araxá is a small city, full of charm, with innumerous farms on its outskirts. If
the classical impression people get from these spas is tranquility and peace where big families live, you can already imagine the delicacies
produced in such places.
As a city of Minas Gerais, Araxá follows the rule. There are various delicious
alternatives of typical dishes. Many of them are sweets, remitting to those childhood memories, where grandma pet her grandsons with irresistible
delicacies, like the traditional “doce de leite” (milk sweet), “broa” (kind of bread), “pão doce preparado com fubá” (sweet bread prepared with
cornmeal) and “torta mineira” – prepared with wine, guava jam and milk sweet.
For the adepts of salty dishes, the spice of Minas Gerais gives unmistakable flavor
to whatever meal, even if it’s composed only by rice and beans. There, any chef that respects themselves uses a mix of onion, garlic, pimento,
shallot, parsley and salt, mixed in the blender. Among the dishes that use this mix, there are “feijão tropeiro”, made with bacon, eggs and
manioc flour, “tutu de feijão” and “vaca atolada”, which uses tomatoes, parsley and manioc.
Besides those delicacies, the cuisine of Araxá also has the famous “pão de queijo”,
one of the most consumed delicacies in the cities of Minas Gerais. |
