Fountains of thermal waters and German culture are the attractions of Águas Mornas.
Visitors get enchanted with the small city, 40km away from Florianópolis, which preserves the historic houses and also offers thermal fountains
with pure waters, full of medicinal properties, as good as the French resorts.
The name “Águas Mornas” is exactly a reference to the thermal fountains abundant
there. Tourists visit the city during the whole year looking for cure of diseases through the therapeutic properties of the waters, which emerge
at an average temperature of 39ºC. They are indicated in the treatment of rheumatism, arthritis, rheumatic pains, digestive and kidney system
malfunction, nervous system, without mentioning that it cures innumerous skin diseases.
To attend tourists, there are good hotels in the city. The ones located in the
fountains surroundings use the thermal waters on its dependencies, besides offering swimming pools and bathtubs for individual use.
For being located on a region famous by the preservation of nature, Águas Mornas
has other attractions. At “Parque Estadual da Serra do Tabuleiro” it’s possible to practice many extreme sports, especially rappel and rafting,
but there are also trails and other options for adventurers. A few kilometers away from the city’s downtown there are the waterfall “Wasserplatz”
and “Salto do Rio Vermelho”, the last one with a series of waterfalls.
At Águas Mornas there are also three german settlements, Vargem Grande, Santa
Isabel and Teresópolis, which preserve constructions of the epoch when the first European immigrants arrived to the region. It’s also worth to
visit “Gruta de Nossa Senhora de Lourdes”.
