    Varig operates the largest network of airway routes in Brazil and at present flies to 110 cities together with the Rio Sul and Nordeste. Besides this, the company has flights to more than 27 international destinations in 18 countries located in for continents.

 

    The company was created in 1927, in a small room in the Associação Comercial of Porto Alegre. Along the 77 years of existence, more than 210 million passengers have been transported in almost 3 million flights.

 

    Varig  is first plane was the Atlantico for nine passengers and a medium velocity of 180 km/h. At that time, no one could imagine that the company would one day have 115 planes, or even the most modern commercial plane of the world: the Boeing 777, which has a capacity for 287 passengers and flies at a velocity of 1.000 km/h.

 

    Since 1997, Varig has been a partner of the Star Alliance group which incorporates another 13 very respected companies: Lauda Air, Tyrolean Airways, Air Canada, Air New Zealand, Lufthansa, Scandinavian Airlines System, Thai Airways, United Airlines, All Nippon Airways (ANA), Companies Mexican de Aviação, Singapore Airlines, Austrian Airlines and British Midland Airways, which gives the Brazilian the access to more than 800 destination allover the world. The planes are also modern and comfortable and the service on board has the approved of the most famous international chefs.

 

    In the same way, the union of Varig with Rio Sul and Nordeste also has the objective of offering an easy access to any destination in the country, associated with the best in service and commodity for the client.
