Monument to the Castaways

Monument to the Castaways

    This monument was built in honor to those who died in the accident considered the biggest of the history of Brazil Navy, occurred in 1906.

    The registers says that the warship “Aquidabã” exploded, killing the best admirals of the corporation at that time. The crew was constituted by people who supervised the installations of Baía de Jacuacanga.

    The monument is obelisk shaped, made of limestone, and comports the mortal remains of the crew in drawers.
