With a marine flora totally different from the other areas of the region, “Sandri
Island” counts with several fountains. So, there are several streams that spring there and end up in the sea, mixing the salty waters of the sea
with the fresh waters of the rivers. It changes the vegetation and the ecosystem, making them unique.
The fishes, the seaweed and the corals enchant with its live colors, also making
prettier the landscape of this natural paradise, frequented for the practice of scuba diving.
One of the local curiosities is that the water is a few degrees warmer than the
usual, caused by the nuclear power plants Angra I and II, which uses a refrigerating system for the reactor. According to engineers, the
equipments and its effects underwater don’t have malefic effects to visitors or nature. |
