Beco das Cores |
The Beco das Cores is one of the most well known points of the district of Arraial
d’Ajuda. The name comes from a tradition of the 18th century, where the houses were distinguished only by the colors. In the Beco,
each building is painted a different colors of paint, not only to be different from the others but also to maintain the relaxed atmosphere so
characteristic of the thousands of hippies that existed in Arraial d’Ajuda.
The commerce of the Beco das Cores, a center of very popular bars and restaurants,
receives a very different type of public from the habitual students who travel an vacation to Porto Seguro. There are restaurants for all the
tastes which serve from Japanese food up to typical Arabian dishes. The music played by the bands in these places is not just pagode and axe.
There are various exhibitions of MPB and Jazz.
The atmosphere is relaxing. The houses are open, with no walls to delimit the space
of each establishment. Since it is a meeting point for national and international tourists, almost all the places have menus in French, Italian,
Spanish and even in Japanese. The Beco das Cores is located on the Rua Caminho do Mar, which takes you to the Mucuge Beach. |
