In the park’s ornamental plants, it’s already possible to notice the diversity of colors and textures of the typical flora of Minas Gerais. The landscape gets more beautiful with the gardens and green houses framed by lakes, which shelters plant and aquatic animals. The medicinal plant garden has especially cultivated varieties for therapeutic use. Other places which also attract tourists are “Bromeliário”, which presents various diversities of the plant, and “Jardim das Palmeiras”, which counts with 97 trees

    There were formed several public squares in the interior of Jardim Botânico, place for nature lover visitors. Praça Brasileira has native species of Brazil that have economic importance. There are trees like jacarandá, aroeira, bálsamo, ipês and cedro. Praça do Fóssil has vegetal fragments a million years old, besides extremely old trees

    In one of the green houses, the environment found in Mata Atlântica is reproduced. The specimen selected to compose the theme green house comes from Parque Estadual do Rio Doce, the bigger reserve of Mata Atlântica in Minas Gerais. Some of those species, among them Palmito Jussara and Canela Sassafrás, are in extinction danger
