The biggest green area in the capital, with 337 hectares, Mangabeiras Park is
located at the margins of Serra do Curral, one of the natural limits of Belo Horizonte. Besides being a place destined to the preservation of
fauna and flora, it’s also meeting point for those who likes to practice cultural and sportive activities close to nature
During the 19th century, the area belonged to “Fazenda do Capão”.
Mangabeiras Park was created in 1966, but only in the beginning of the 80’s it was inaugurated, after infrastructure works. The landscape
project was elaborated by Roberto Burle Marx
The main attractions of Parque das Mangabeiras are the special routes, starting
at Praça das Águas, where there are three lakes and gardens with native trees. At Praça das Águas, there are support spaces, like the
administration, Information Central, Medic Center, the restrooms and snack bars, besides amphitheatre
There are three routes. In “Roteiro da Mata”, the objective is to appreciate the
park’s vegetation, going through native species scion nurseries and belvederes. “Roteiro do Sol” takes to entertainment activities at “Parque
Esportivo”, where there are sport courts. “Roteiro das Águas” offers the chance to watch fountains and small waterfalls inside the park’s
limits. After that, the ideal is to have a snack at “Morro do Piquenique” or at “Vale dos Quiosques”
