As old as the city itself, Liberdade Square mix elements that illustrate the
development of Belo Horizonte. The buildings situated in the place have the most distinct architectonical styles, since the neoclassic from the
end of the 19th century to the actual tendencies
Situated in the public square there’s Palácio da Liberdade, seat of the State
Government. It has an iron stairway from Belgium, but it was built in the shapes of the french palaces. “Edifício Niemeyer” is a residential
building designed by the famous architect Oscar Niemeyer, who was inspired in the mountains of Minas Gerais to Project it. Disagreeing
completely from the other constructions is “Museu de Mineralogia”
The architectonical and landscape set of Praça da Liberdade is protected by
