Considered one of the biggest fair at open air in Latin America, “Feira de
Artesanato” of Belo Horizonte occurs at Avenida Afonso Pena every Sundays, from 8 am. It’s the ideal place to buy presents and local
craftsmanship.
The fair started from the initiative of a group residents and art critics, in
1969. Formerly, it occupied Praça da Liberdade, but with the success of the idea, the public square became small and the artisans were relocated
in 1991 to Avenida Afonso Pena. Actually, about 3000 artists occupy the avenue, separated in 17 sectors.
