Situated in the city of Lagoa Santa, 34km away from Belo Horizonte, Lapinha Cave
was discovered by paleontologist Peter Lund, who, at that time, didn’t know the historic value it had. In the cave, fossils of pre-historic
animals and human beings were already found, like the skull of Homem de Lagoa Santa, which proves the existence of life 10000 years ago.
It has galleries, called halls, baptized with the name of the shape they have,
like Véu da Noiva (Bride’s Veil), which has crystal formations of high brilliance, the “cascata de luz”, “sala das cortinas”, “sala das
pirâmides”, the “presépio” and “do sino”. The cave is deep and has a special illumination system, emphasizing the rock formations.
