Bonito - Others - Buraco da Araras

Literally, Buraco das Araras is a gap that appeared due to the crumbling of a cave. The entering is possible only with ropes, since the walls are very steep and don’t have support for the feet. After the descending way, visitors may swim in the underground lake. Although swimming is permitted, it’s not advisable to drink the water, since it has micro-organisms from the bat’s excrements.

The “hole”, which resembles more as a crater at first look, is surrounded by dense vegetation. The place got this name from the great quantity fo araras living there, which always return by the end of the day.
