 Bonito - Presentation

Sucuri River

When the topic is ecotourism, there’s not much to disagree. Today, Bonito is the most demanded place to those who like adventure and, above all, wants to forget everything a appreciate nature. Without any doubt, it’s a place worthy to be visited that don’t disappoint tourists of any ages.

The better thing to do is to save at least 4 days to know Bonito, because, although the tours are always related with adventure or nature, there’s so much variety that it’s easy to stay in town for one week and visit one attraction per day, without repeating. It’s possible to choose from activities that require a better phisical conditioning, like rafting and trekking, or simple floating at the rivers, making Bonito capable of offering excitement to tourists of any age.

The excellent tourism infrastructure is not limited to the lodging. What also calls attention in Bonito is that the place is extremely well preserved, even with the huge flux of people. Most of the tours have a limited number of visitors per day, to preserve the eco system. The tours are controlled and it’s not possible to do much without a registered guide. All attractions are located in particular properties, which cares, very much, about the natural patrimony. That’s why the trip is expensive: It’s necessary to pay at the entrance of the attractions.

Bonito is not the only “pantaneira” town (city located at Pantanal) famous for the magnificent natural landscape. The neighbor towns of Jardim and Bodoquena also share, with Bonito, the main attractions of that region. All cities are situated at Serra da Bodoquena, where there are beautiful waterfalls, caves, the biggest fresh water natural aquarium of Brazil and the largest area of preserved forest of Mato Grosso do Sul.

The city is called Bonito because it was originated in lands Rincão Bonito ranch, at the end of 19th century.
