Matriz da Nossa Senhora da Pena

In spite of the actual facade being in the architectonic style of the 18th century, it still maintains its structure of the 16th century. The tower for example, still maintains the layer of potsherd from Macau, China. Built in 1535 by order of the donator Pero de Campos Tourinho, it guards sacred images of the 16th and 17th centuries, that are considered to be the Assisi (1503) and our Lady of Pena (patroness of the place).
