    Traveling with animals was never a good idea. Besides the bureaucracy found in the airports, hotels and restaurants any where in the world, many times the entrance of pats is prohibited, it is very complicated to control animals an long trips, no matter how docile they are.

    The best solution is to pay a specialized hotel that will take good care of the animals while the owners enjoy their vacation.

    However, when it is necessary to take the pet, same procedures should be fallowed to permit its entrance and circulation in Brazil. First choose the flight, which should be in the morning or at night. Void flights that have stops and connections is also advisable.

    It is necessary to consult the airline companies to discover how the compartment where the animal will travel should be. There, all the personal information of the owner should be mentioned as well, so that the owner can be located in case of any problem. The reservation must be made at least 48 hours before because there is very little space for animals.

    The “live freight” is usually transported with the luggage. There are a few exceptions one of them is the dogs with visual deficiencies. Attention: it is not recommended to travel by plane females who are expecting litters. The animals must take tranquilizes when they travel in the cabine, therefore, it is useful to get a prescription from the veterinary with the type of medication and when it should be taken.

    Brazil requires of the foreign tourists a certificate attesting that the pet doesn’t suffer from rabies or any other type of infective-contagious disease. The tourist that arrives in Brazil should always have at hand the GTA – Guia de Transporte Animal (The Form of Transportation of Animals) – furnished by the Ministry of Agriculture of the country of origin. To enter the country besides the certificate and GTA, the animal has to take all the other vaccines at least one month before.

    All the documents should be sent to the Brazilian consulate to be analyzed and then, decide of the animal can travel or not. The Ibama also studies the documents to see if the animal is considered to be of wild specie. In case it is a typical animal of the wild fauna of a country the entrance in Brazil is prohibited.
