Brasília - Historical Buildings - Três Poderes Square

Sculpture

Sculpture "Os Candangos", a symbol of Brasília

“Três Poderes Square” is a civic area that represents the integration of the three powers of the Republic. It’s surrounded by “Federal Supreme Court”, seat of the Judiciary, by “Planalto Palace”, seat of the Executive, and by “National Congress”, seat of the Legislative.

Projected by Oscar Niemeyer, “Três Poderes Square” also comports sculptures like "Justice", made by artist Alfredo Ceschiatti, and "Os Candangos", made by Bruno Giorgi and considered as one of the symbols of Brasília.

There’s also “Pira da Pátria” and “Marco Brasília”, also projected by Oscar Niemeyer. The last one is in honor to Unesco, who registered the city as Mankind Cultural Heritage. At “Brasília Historic Museum” it’s possible to see the sculpture of the head of Juscelino Kubitschek. Other Works of Oscar Niemeyer can be seen, like “Pombal”, art piece ordered by the wife of former president Jânio Quadros, Eloá.

The flag’s mast is 100 meters high. The flag’s change is done every first Sunday of each month, accompanied by bands and military troops, becoming a great attraction for visitors.
