Brasília - Parks - Paranoá Lake

Paranoá Lake

Paranoá Lake

“Paranoá Lake” was created in 1959 with the construction of dams that store waters of Torto and Bananal Rivers, through the north side and from Fundo, Guará, Gama and Cabeça de Veado Rivers, through the south side. It’s protected by APA (Área de Proteção Ambiental).

Actually, the artificial lake is considered not only one of the postcards of Brasília, but also configured as an entertainment alternative for residents and tourists.

The place is highly used for the practice of amateur fishing and for the practice of nautical sports. Besides that, due to the mud of the margins of the lake, the entrance of swimmers is not recommended. There’s also risk for swimmers due to the vegetation in the bottom of the lake.
