| Brasília - Churches - Islam Center Mosque |
The mosque is the only one in Brasília capable of comporting 1000 people, what
keeps it in the first place in the ranking of the biggest mosques of Latin America, with 2800 m². Made in the molds of the arabian architecture,
the building has a minaret, tower where devotees are called by the priests to the execution of the five daily prayers, demanded by the Islam.
Weekly, the devotees reunite themselves in the temple covered with carpets and with
some furniture to study passages of Alcoran (the sacred book) and listen to lectures of the religious leaders.
The visits can be done at any day of the week, except Fridays, when there are
meetings of the devotees. There’s a sheik capable of clearing any doubts of visitors, but the entrance of people dressed with skirts, sandals,
low-necked blouses, bermuda shorts and no-sleeve shirts is not allowed.
