The church that houses the images of Sant'Anna and the "Menino Jesus" is
party of the history of the city since the period when the village was still called Armação das Baleias. Sant'Anna is the patroness of Búzios.
Founded in 1740, the church was built with limestone, stones, sand and whale oil. The construction of the church was considered to be the first
christian display of the population of the region.
In 2002, the Sanctuary received external illumination which shows off the architecture
of the 16th century and the bell. The Sant'Anna Church is located between the principal beaches of the city, the Armação and Ossos Beaches.
The day of Sant'Anna is celebrated on July 26th, with a mass and a procession.
