 Buzios - Presentation

Can you imagine that one of the most beautiful Brazilian seaside resorts was once a small fishing village? Really, it is difficult to believe in the humble origin of such a rich and beautiful city. Only just a few divers, enchanted by the greenish color of the sea, visited the place that today is considered to be one of the principal tourist points of the country.

Located in the State of Rio de Janeiro, Búzios always had an unequaled nature, however not very well known. Everything changed in the 60's when the city received the visit of Brigitte Bardot, the French actress who came with a friend to know the seaside resort. They say that it was Brigitte who brought the shine and the progress to the place.

After the illustrious arrival of the actress, Armação became ano of the most visited place in the world, because everyone wanted to walk where Brigitte walked. And those who didn't like the actress, visited the place out of curiosity, just to know what a "Star from France" would do in Brazil, in a completely unkown city. That's how Armação de Búzios became so popular and, in honor of the actress, two sculptures were made in the sand of the Armação Beach: one of Brigitte and the other one represents the fishermen of the region.

The city has twenty six beaches, the most famous among them are the Geribá, Armação, Azeda, Azedinha, Canto, Brava, Amores and others beaches, each of them with its own history and characteristics. In the inlets of Búzios, the visitors can not only appreciate the nature but can also have fun on the boat rides, on the trails and even get to know the various islands. For those who practice and like to dive, the place is indicated because the beaches have rocky coasts which facilitate diving.

Besides the sea, Búzios has another great attraction, the Rua das Pedras (Street of the Stones), one of the most agitated places in the city. The trafic of cars is prohibited, therefore the people can freely have fun. On the streets there are small bars and restaurants. For those who like to take advantage of the night, meet new people and dance a lot, the Rua das Pedras is the ideal place because it is not only a place for recreation. There are also stores of national and international brands, stores of CD's and art galleries. Armação even has a golf court with 18 holes.

The people are nice and happy. Búzios is a sophisticated city, full of hotels, inns and wonderful restaurants. In the city the tourists will find Japanese, Italian and French food, exotic meats and the typical seafood.

It doesn't matter what season of the year it is, winter or summer, Búzios is one of the cities that receives the most tourists in Brazil. In all the seasons there is something to do, swimming or riding on an aquatic taxi on the transparent water of the seaside resorts, ride a schooner, go to some small bar on the Rua das Pedras to talk or just to have fun.
