Campo Grande - City's Obelisk

City’s Obelisk

The obelisk is located in the crossing between Afonso Pena Avenue and José Antônio Street. In 1933 the former mayor Ytrio Corrêa da Costa inaugurated it in homage to Campo Grande’s founder, José Antonio Pereira.

The family of José Antonio Pereira arrived at the region in 1875 and was one of the first to live there, next to Manoel Vieira de Souza and José Neponucemo, already established there.
