Campos
do Jordão is the main destination for the tourists who want to enjoy the winter
without leaving the State of São Paulo.
The “Brazilian Switzerland”as it is known, is located in the middle of Serra da
Mantiqueira – the most important mountain chain of the state of São Paulo. For
that reason, the average temperature of the city is 55°F and during the winter
it goes down to 23°F.
Famous for it’s clothes, candies and mineral water, Campos do Jordão also
hostess one of the biggest Music Festival of the world, with musicians and
orchestras from many countries for popular presentations of erudite music. The
Festival takes place yearly on July and already has become a tradition. There is
no one who does not like to enjoy the cold weather in good company, tasting a
fondue, listening to music of excellent cultural and artistic quality.
Using the low temperature as an excuse, tourists from many parts of the country
come to Campos do Jordão to enjoy the delicious of the season, with typical
dishes and a variety of wine. It has a high standard gastronomy with restaurants
to fit all tastes and different cuisines. In the city of Campos do Jordão one
can also visit a chocolate factory besides a beer plant.
But music and gastronomy are not the only attraction of Campos do Jordão. There
are several others leisure options like the train ride, which leaves from the
city and goes till the cities in the neighborhood through beautiful landscapes.
For those who like radical sports will not be disappointed with many options of
ecological tours like off-road, tree climbing and rock climbing.
For those who like trekking, Pedra do Baú is a good suggestion. The tourists go
trough a trail to reach the top at 1.950 meters, including a climb in a 600
steps stair, all made of rock. If you prefer a light tour, you should visit
Horto Florestal, that has 1/3 of the city.
With more than 50 thousand inhabitants, Campos do Jordão receives more than one
million tourists during winter season. The visitants use all available rooms of
the hotels in the city, consisted in a 3 principal quarters. The Abernéssia
Quarter is the commercial and administrative center of the city. At this quarter
are located the Mercado Municipal and the Igreja de Santa Teresinha. The
Jaguaribe is the residential area with European style and luxurious condominiums.
The most famous is the Capivari Quarter, totally dedicated to tourism, where are
locate the best restaurants, bars, night clubs and hotels.
No matter if is winter or summer, in Campos do Jordão there are always an
alternative of leisure according to the season.
