 Caraíva - Beaches

Caraíva Beach and Caraíva River

After boarding all of the Parque Nacional do Monte Pascoal the Caraíva River empties its water next to the village of Caraíva. The river is calm and wide. It is an option for riding a Kayak, a boat or for fishing. Many batters prefer the river than the sea to refreshes themselves from the heat that is always present in the littoral of Bahia.

The beach of the Village is of exuberant flora, replete with coconut trees, has a bluff of 40 meters tall. On the other side of the river white and reddish colored, that reflect intense sparkles in reddish tones of red when the sun rises.

The Tatuaçu stone which is really a reef barrier is frequently used for diving and in observing the marine fauna. The best time for this is in the full moon and new noon phases and on the high tide.

Juacema Beach (Satu)

The lakes near the border are the attraction of the place. Besides, of course, Satu, a very nice inhabitant that lives their with his family. The sea has strong waves of a greenish color, the sand is golden colored and fine.

Espelho Beach and Curuípe

One of the most charming beaches of the region with transparent water, but one the hardest to get to because the dirt road doesn't help very much. For this reason it is visited mostly by the local inhabitants and of the buildings. It received this name because during the full moon, when the waters are calm, you can see the reflection of the stars, seen over the bluff.

Jacumá Beach

Outstanding due to a great line of coconut trees spread all over the extension of the beach. It is also known as the estuary of the Barra do Rio dos Frades where you have the mouth of this river which is the principal one of a great number of stream that form a integrated ecosystem that during the full periods when the water goes up several meters, flooding the valley and occupying a vast extension like in the marsh of Mato Grosso. Its name come from the drowning of a Franciscan mark in 1515.

Barra Velha
