| Congonhas - Museum - Image and Memory Museum |
Formerly, the house served as residence for the Fonseca family, one of the most
traditional families of the city. This old construction was reformed to shelter much of the history of Congonhas, stimulating the preservation
of the local culture. Besides keeping the original aspects of the architecture, it was slightly adapted for also aiming the installing of the
objects from the memorial.
As soon as the visitors enters Image and Memory Museum, a guide trained by
“Fundação Municipal de Cultura, Lazer e Turismo (Fumcult)” shows up to explain the main facts and curiosities of the history of Congonhas. The
patrimony is divided in rooms that comport special galleries, for example, the rooms that remount the trajectory of the mayors of Congonhas and
Congonhas do Campo, and the rooms destined to the history of the medium Zé Arigó, famous for bringing to the city people from all around the
world, interested in curing several diseases.
The other spaces are reserved to photos, documents, manuscripts and old
objects.
