The building housed a public jail in 1970 and actually gives place to
several artists of the city. It was founded in 1975 and the space that formerly was used as cells was transformed in stores and
craftsmanship workshops.
It still keeps the aspect of a prison due to the gratings, but nowadays
it has a totally different aura. Mixed with the colorful ceramic objects and the embroidery, the works of the Terena, Kadiwéu and
Guató indians are the main enticements of the place. At Casa do Artesão, typical foods and also the traditional regional fruit
liqueurs are on sale.
