São Benedito Church |
Constructed in colonial style, the church’s history is not precise about its
foundation. There are some non-confirmed data that it was built by slaves but it’s impossible to say the precise date. Known by the parties in
honor of São Benedito, it also calls attention for celebrating masses in non-conventional times, like the 5 am celebration, when the city’s
traditional families meets.
It’s protected by the National Historic and Artistic Patrimony and recognized for
being the oldest church that went through any modifications in Cuiabá.
