Santo Antônio de Leverger is a small city situated around Cuiabá, just 27 km away.
It´s highly demanded due to its river beaches and rustic style of most of the lodges. The fluvial beaches more frequented are Vereda and
Chacororé Bay.
But, what really attract the tourists are the Carnival parties of the city. Santo
Antônio de Leverger is famous for having the best parties of Mato Grosso, with parades and folk dance contests, which begins in January. Lots of
joyful people parades with exotic costumes through the narrow streets of the city with the sound of regional music.
Other attractions are the ruins of the Tamandaré, Itaicy and Flechas sugar mills,
beside of other 12 farms, which, until the 19th century, produced sugar and cachaça. From 1920, with the decadence of the sugar cane,
the government cutted the incentives and many lands were abandoned. Although many sugar mills don’t run anymore, the region still remains as a
great producer of beverages and candies.
Those who enjoy fishing won’t be disappointed, since Santo Antônio de Leverger has
many lakes, besides Cuiabá River itself, full of Dourados, Jaús, Curimbatás, Pintados and Pacus. Tourists visiting Cuiabá don’t regret the
experience of knowing also Santo Antônio de Leverger. |
