The Costa do Descobrimento is the region where the cities of Porto Seguro,
Cabrália, Belmonte and other small places are located. Thousands of tourists visit this strip of the coast of Bahia every year to enjoy not
only the scenery, which continues as beautiful as when the first Portuguese ships arrived in the new lands, but to learn a little bit more of
the history of Brazil as well.
Beautiful beaches are spread along all the coast of Bahia however, the difference
of the Costa do Descobrimento is exactly integrate leisure with culture. There is no other place that has more information on the colonial
period, when Brazil began to be colonized.
It is commom to find several century did buildings that were used for shelter by
the Jesuits and the just colonizers. On visiting the regions, the tourists can see how the life of the missionaries was like, in contact with
the Indians and the difficulties faced by the Portuguese in an unexplored land, covered by dense forests and full of dangers.
Today the situation found in the cities of the Costa do Descobrimento is very
different. The principal city to be explored there is Porto Seguro, which offers options for lodging for all tastes, from the tourists who are
most demanding in relation to comfort up to those who think only in laving fun and enjoying the night.
Arraial d’Ajuda and Trancoso, districts of Porto Seguro, are more tranquil
choices, for those who like to enjoy nature and want to listen to a different type of music that isn’t axe. Obviously, the regional music is
success in the two places but, it is possible to find other types, even shows of jazz and blues.

and beautiful beaches during the day.
- Arraial d’Ajuda is the point of the hippies and has alternative bars and restaurants, where
Baiano and "axé rhythms" aren’t very popular.
