 Diamantina - Biribiri Village

Biribiri Village

Formed by workers of a cloth manufacture, the small village enchants through its simplicity. Even after the complete abandonment of the fabric, in 1973, the small village continued to exist. Afterwards, the village was bought by Mascarenhas family, to whom it belongs up to nowadays.

One of the curiosities of the place is related to the history of film making in Brazil, since the village once served as settings for the recordings of "Xica da Silva" of Cacá Diegues and "A dança do Bonecos" of Helvécio Raton. The surrounding area was transformed into “Parque Estadual do Biribiri”, inaugurated in 1998, with the objective of preserve the huge area of Serra do Espinhaço.

Address: Access through Km 587 of BR 367 road to Araçuaí. 15 km.
