The Metropolitan Cathedral of Fortaleza occupies the place where formerly there
was located the old Igreja da Sé (Sé Church). The work initiated in 1938 took 40 years to be finished. But, such work was rewarded by the
beauty of the temple, which is the most important of Fortaleza. The church has capacity for 5000 people and gothic-roman architecture. Masses
are celebrated everyday, except on Mondays.
