The house belonged to the famous writer José de Alencar, who was Born on a place
called “Sítio Alagadiço Novo”. There’s “museu Artur Ramos”, with indian and african origin pieces, making clear the racial mixing of the
people of that region of Brazil.
The memorial also hosts a great part of the works of artist Floriano Teixeira,
always keeping as theme some characters created by writer José de Alencar, besides a vast library with more than 5000 volumes available for
the public.
