With a patrimony of more than five thousand pieces, Museu do Ceará brings an
important set of historic objects. There are exhibitions with pieces of paleontology, archeology, anthropology and furniture. Sporadically,
the museum installed at Palácio Senador Alencar also promotes exhibitions with themes that elucidate the history of Fortaleza, aspects of the
religiosity and popular movements of Ceará.
Among the exhibited objects there are clothes that belonged to Padre Cícero and
the dagger of bandit Virgulino Ferreira, known as “Lampião”. Museu do Ceará promote monitored visits destined to students and tourists who
wish to know a little more about the history of Fortaleza.
Museu do Ceará works at Palácio Senador Alencar, construction dated from 1871,
registered by IPHAN as official mark of the brazilian neoclassical style.
