Fortaleza - Others - Farol do Mucuripe

Mucuripe Lighthouse

Mucuripe Lighthouse

Built between 1840 and 1846 following the architectonical tendencies of the baroque style, “Farol de Mucuripe” is made with iron and masonry. The construction, considered the oldest of Fortaleza, was the responsible for guiding the embarkations, keeping the nickname of “Olho do Mar” (sea’s eye). Today, it hosts “Museu Histórico de Fortaleza”, a memorial about the city’s development.
