Fortaleza |
What makes Fortaleza so special? Maybe, it’s the mix of the calmness of the beaches
and the liveliness of the nightlife. The important thing is that any tourist gets satisfied with the capital of the State of Ceará, including the
nightlife and the beach options, usually broad, surrounded by dunes, “mangues” or fresh water lagoons.
The best option is “Praia do Futuro”, 10km away from Fortaleza’s downtown. The
seaside has lots of stalls, which serve crab, oyster and one of the typical dishes of the city: “pargo assado”. “Avenida Beira Mar”, which pass
through Iracema, Meireles and Mucuripe beaches, has a constant movement of tourists, mainly because there are concentrated some of the best hotels
and restaurants of Fortaleza. At afternoon, it’s the preferred place of sport lovers, who go there to walk and ride bicycles. Do not enter the
water, since it’s not proper for swimming, despite the beauty and the infrastructure.
Fortaleza is also the host of “Beach Park”, the biggest aquatic park of South
America, located at Porto das Dunas beach, 29km away from downtown. Besides the park, other resorts are arriving to the region, which receives
more and more foreigner tourists.
At night, there are plenty of options in Fortaleza, a city that has one party
for each night of the week and keeps the title of having the liveliest Monday of Brazil. And for those who don’t like “forró” that much and
don’t intend to learn to dance it, they can look for bars and also “Centro Cultural Dragão do Mar”, which always has an interesting cultural
program.
There’s only one restriction: try to schedule the trip between July and December,
since it uses to rain a lot from January to March.
