Goiás - Historical Building - Conde dos Arcos Palace

Conde dos Arcos Palace

Conde dos Arcos Palace

Historians say that the palace would have been built after Dom Marcos de Noronha, also known as Conde dos Arcos, asked the King of Portugal. When Dom Marcos arrived to Goiás in the 18th century, he affirmed that there was no place good enough to shelter a person as important as him and then started the construction of the building. After this episode, a number around 98 governors occupied the house, inaugurated in 1751.

Actually, a kind of memorial Works there, dividing clothes, furniture and old currency in the 36 rooms of the palace, which also has a big courtyard and a fountain. Annually, the place works as seat of the State Government for the commemorations of the city’s anniversary.
