    One of the greatest prominences of the State’s typical cuisine is “Empadão Goiano”, a kind of pie with stuffing composed by sausage, chicken, pork, “guariroba” (a kind of asparagus) and cheese, which according to the residents of the city of Goiás, is practically a whole meal.

    To those who want to know a little more about Goiás’ cuisine, the most indicated is to start with the spices, mark of the regional cooking and great responsible not only for the flavor of the food, but also for the energy it gives to the food. It’s not rare to find strong foods in the dishes of the residents of the region or in local restaurants. The most common meals in the menu are “galinhada”, “arroz defumado”, “peixe na telha”, “arroz com suã” (pork spine) and “angu com leitão à pururuca”.

    Sweets are also characteristics of Goiás’ cuisine. The sweet makers use to receive tourists at home and visit them is already a tradition for those who arrive in the city.
