Zoo

Zoo

The Zoo of Goiânia was inaugurated in 1946 and today shelters about 1200 animals, divided in 193 species, among birds, reptiles and mammals. Situated on a huge green area in the city’s downtown, the park has easy access, allowing more visits.

The place keeps five lakes with fishes and paddle boat for who want to have fun on the water. There sand and indoor courts, track field, gym station and sport equipments of collective use, provided by the Zoo. For students, the great attraction is “Castelinho”, donated to the park by “União dos Estudantes Secundaristas”. It was almost destroyed during the military dictatorship for being the place of meetings of activists of student movements.
