Memorial do Cerrado |
Situated by “Vila Cenográfica do Cerrado”, the Memorial is part of the biggest
scientific and cultural complex of Goiás. Besides an excellent center of culture and researches, the museum is one of the most visited tour
spots of the city.
The space remounts intervals of the history, from the formation of Earth until
the arrival of the portugueses to Brasil in 1500, epoch of the discovering of Brazil and the beginning of colonization. The history is also
told by the representative figures of “Vila Cenográfica”, a space with replicas of a village situated at the country side of the beginning of
the century.
There’s also a petrified forest, a replica of a 280 million years old forest that
existed in South America, the giant fauna, patrimony of animal skeletons that lived in the region 12 thousand years ago and a sector baptized
of “Homem das Cavernas”, where there’s a 11 thousand years old skeleton, called “Homem da Serra do Cafezal”, found in Serrápolis.
