Founded to keep alive the indian traditions and the roots of the history of
Brazil, since the epoch of its discovering, “Museu Antropológico da Universidade Federal de Goiás”, inaugurated in 1970, is located at “Praça
Universitária”, between “Universidade Federal” and “Universidade Católica”.
In the patrimony, visitors can find pieces made with vegetal raw material, like
logs, grass, straws, palm tree stings, cotton and fruit seeds, besides bones of animals, shells, feathers and plumes. There’s a part destined
to materials like ceramic pieces, paintings and material deriving from shellfishes.
A library is available for visits of research and specialized information
demands. There are all kinds of materials about the following tribes: Apinayé, Aweti, Canela, Cinta Larga, Juruna, Kalapalo, Kamayurá, Kayabí,
Krahó, Kreen Akarore, Kuikuru, Karajá, Mehináku, Suyá, Tapirapé, Txikão, Txukarramãe, Xavante, Xerente, Yawalapiti and Waurá.
