“Instituto Goiano de Pré-História e Antropologia” was born from a project of
“Universidade Católica de Goiás”, with the objective of preserving and presenting to the public details of the indian life and tradition.
Besides that, it realizes researches about the topic in the areas of anthropology, archeology, environment and education.
With a patrimony of tapes, photos, videos, slides, books and post cards, the
space shows how it’s important to know and respect the culture of the indians, who are considered the first inhabitants of Brazil. In “Exposição
Etnológica” it’s possible to see ornamental objects that belong to indians of Xingu and the central part of Brazil, summing 87 pieces that
vary between collars, brushes, bracelets, masks and about 43 objects like bows, arrows, ceramic vases and baskets.
One of the greatest attractions of the place is the collection of karajá dolls,
which remounts scenes of the tribe daily routine, and the exhibit of ceramic dolls, totalizing 208 pieces. Besides that there are about one
hundred photos of tribes from Amazon. In the archeology sector, there are ceramic pieces, fossils and paintings.
