| Iguassu Falls - Others - Casino Hotel |
The 1938 building hosted the famous city’s hotel, which had a casino, under the
supervision of José Acylino and Roda Cirilo de Castro. The establishment, which was property of Paraná’s state government, kept both functions
until 1946, when, during the president Dutra’s administration, a law against gambling in Brazil was determined. Since then, the building worked
just as a hotel, going under reforms in 1956.
For a long time, Hotel Cassino was useful to Foz do Iguaçu’s tourism, hosting
celebrities like Juscelino Kubischeck and Getúlio Vargas. In 1986, an agreement with Paranatur - Empresa Paranaense de Turismo – was done and the
building was granted to SENAC.
Nowadays, the building works as Tourism’s Palace and hosts various entities related
to the city’s tourism.
