UNESCO registered as Mankind’s Natural Patrimony, Iguaçu’s National Park houses
Iguaçu River’s postcard: the Falls. Although the waterfalls are the main attraction, there’s much more to see there. Visitors shouldn’t miss the
opportunity to see "Poço Preto", "Salto do Macuco", the Visitors Center and the statue in honor to Santos Dumont, one of the major defenders of
the creation of a reserve on the triple frontier region.
Iguaçu’s National Park was created in 1939 by edict of president Getúlio Vargas and
composes one of the biggest forest reserves in South America. The brazilian area has more than 185 hectares of land, summed to the argentinean
reserve portion, where it changes name to “Parque Nacional del Iguazu”, to totalize 225 hectares. It’s located on the far west of Paraná State
about 17Km away from Foz do Iguaçu’s downtown. The protected area is habitat of about 200 species of animals, like birds, jaguars, monkeys,
capivaras and others and has an incommensurable natural richness.
The Visitors Center has parking lot with capacity to 170 buses and counts with two
platforms to embark and disembark, beside restaurants, snack bars, souvenir stores and medical center. There are accesses to physical deficient.
At the park’s tracks, visitors may make use of all the benefits that contact with nature provides.
