| Ilhabela - Beaches - Armação Beach |
The Armação Beach is located to the North of Ilhabela and is the
"point" of the tourists and residents of the city. It is at the Armação where the people meet to Enjoy the night besides being one
of the most agitated beaches during the day. Sports championships, usually windsurf and sailing, are held there as well.
The clear and usually calm water are not the only attratcions of the Armação
Beach. Around the beach there are creeks and trails that take you an beautiful walks among the trees of the Atlantic Forest. The atmosphere
is very calm even though it is popular. Besides so much beauty, the beach has good infrastructure with bathrooms, showers, a room reserved
to keep the equipment of the sportmen and a bar.
What functions today as a real sport training center was a place used by the
fishermen to bone whales. The coast of Ilhabela was inhabited by hundreds of whales that were hunted and killed by the old fishermen. Today,
Ilhabela is a place of preservation.
At the edge of the beach, there is a church called Armação. It is considered
to be one of the oldest buildinga that exist in the place. |
