The Matriz Church of São Jorge was built in 1556. In spite of having gone through
various reforms, it still conserves its original style. Next to the building there is a Museum of Sacred Art which guards real relics, with the
secular image of São Jorge. Founded in 1970, the museum today guards sacred documents as well.
The Matriz Church of São Jorge is located on Rua Conselheiro Dantas.
