 João Pessoa - Presentation

João Pessoa

João Pessoa

Run away from João Pessoa if your idea of having fun is to go to lively place, with restaurants and hotels of international quality and crowded with tourists in search of fun. João Pessoa is the exact opposite of that, with low prices the whole year and extremely calm atmosphere.

The city downtown is away from the coast side, about 6km, what gives a sensation that the city is just the long kilometers of coast side with short buildings – with, at maximum, four floors - and kiosks. The night life is pretty quiet and, among the main attractions of the nightfall, there’s the sundown at Praia do Jacaré, while musicians play "Bolero", of Ravel, live.

Theoretically, João Pessoa is the city with most trees in Brazil. The facts that helped the city to earn the title were two great urban environmental reserves: “Mata do Buraquinho”, which is the botanical garden, and “Parque Arruda Câmara”, a mix of zoo with forestall reserve. However, the city is not full of trees, despite the public squares and gardens extremely well cared.

It’s there that is located the extreme eastern point of America, at “ponta do Seixas”, where there’s a belvedere. The best beaches are those located to the south. But the city is also famous for having the only naturist beach of the entire Northeast region of Brazil, Tambaba, where clothes and men without women are not allowed.

Even during vacations, people don’t have other options. The ideal to enjoy all attractions of João Pessoa and its surrounding is to wake up early, since the sunset hour is 04:00AM and at 02:00PM it starts to weaken. People should go to “Areia Vermelha”, an isle that, in some periods of the year, gets its sands reddened due to the action of seaweed.

Next to other lively capitals, like Recife, 125km away, and Natal, located around 180km away, João Pessoa is an alternative for those who wish to enjoy the sun and the wonderful beaches of the Northeast region, without paying a lot of money or facing the crowd of the neighbor destinations, which are more demanded.
