This construction had the purpose of protecting the troops of Paraíba from the
Dutch invaders in the 16th century, being also used as residence of the captain.
At Santa Catarina Fortress there are a chapel and some cannons from the same
century as the construction, which pictures a period of hard battles. Tourists can also opt for monitored visits. In the craftsmanship store,
visitors can buy souvenirs and regional goods.
