Dinosaur Valley

Steps of Iguanodonte |
Imagine walking through a beautiful place, with plenty of vegetation and rocks and,
all of sudden, when looking to the ground, come upon footprints of grand animals and descendants of reptiles. Yes, dinosaurs! Is it impossible?
Not in João Pessoa, at Paraíba...
Called of “Vale dos Dinossauros”, the place was discovered in 1920 and occupies an
area of approximately 700000km². In the ground there are the registers of centuries: fossilized footprints between 5 and 40cm long, like the ones
of the iguanodon, with a weight of 4 tons and 3 meters high.
Most of the footprints, according to scholars, belong to carnivorous dinosaurs,
which lived there 130 million years ago. At the visitors center of “Vale dos Dinossauros” there are information available for tourists to know
better the dinosaurs and the characteristics of that region.
“Vale dos Dinossauros” is about 400km away from João Pessoa. It is an advisable
tour for those who visit the capital and has some days to know other attractions of the region. |
